<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/biozwBz.jpg” alt=”” width=”865″ height=”1280″ />

Possibly the worst place to stay in Rio. Construction on either side of the hotel which starts at around 6:30am… though the breakfast buffet was incredible.

<strong>July 15</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/0PeH0gT.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />
Jennie, Katarina and Teresa weren’t convinced a boat ride around the harbour in Paraty would be fun… a little arm twisting later and here we are! I think it was almost one of the highlights! An incredible view, beautiful weather and lovely company! What more could you want?

<strong>July 16</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/K5dVzjB.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

Joe, or “Crazy Joe” as we ended up calling him was our Jeep Tour guide around Paraty. There are amazing waterfalls all around this area and some of them are smooth enough to slide down. The more daring locals will surf all the way down them on their feet. Here is Crazy Joe putting on a show for the tourists!

<strong>July</strong> <strong>17</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/WqW03SH.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

A rainy day at the Foz do Iguaçu airport. It wasn’t looking promising for our visit to the water falls the next day but then….

<strong>July 18</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/dBumqet.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

July 21

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/PrsB0HS.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

On this day a monkey stole my glasses. I was enjoying myself a little too much on a flying fox over a fresh water lake when they disappeared… Then I took this photo. I spent the following week wearing my sunglasses at night.

July 22

<strong>July 27</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/cRV4Ure.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”856″ />CCBB Rio. Snapped this during the 1 hour wait to get into the Salvador Dali exhibition. Definitely worth it.

This little guy and his mates ambushed us while we were hiking up to Christ The Redeemer. Had to give him a few little snacks for his efforts.

<strong>July 29</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/jErrbd8.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

Boat, Bridge or Plane, three ways in to Rio.

The view of Rio from Niterói at the Teatro Popular Oscar Niemeyer. Everyone says the best thing about Niterói is the view of Rio… but there are definitely some other awesome things to see and do there!

<strong>July 31</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/zmfR1AN.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

This little bar/restaurant was the perfect place to hang on my first night in Curitiba sharing a beer with the lovely lady in red.

<strong>August 5</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/5017rPm.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

After a little searching we finally found this amazing park. Besides a few pregnant women wanting to have photos taken showing off their bellies it was pretty peaceful. A little picnic while we soaked up some sun was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Huge thanks again to the gorgeous Carolina for yet again being my model =D

August 6

<strong>August 8</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/juYO7Vw.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

This man had some real style for someone living on the streets… He walked around with real swagger. I only realised after taking the photo that he had just been browsing a store that sold hunting knives and guns.

<strong>August 9</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/TyiG6qC.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ /> Dubai Airport.

<strong>August 12</strong>

<img class=”alignnone” src=”http://i.imgur.com/rOx34AZ.jpg” alt=”” width=”1280″ height=”865″ />

When I left for Brazil Henry was a little puppy. In the space of 3 months he grew so much it is tough picking him up! He doesn’t like playing the “sit still so I can take a photo” game so much though.

June 19

A family fishing in João Pessoa.

June 20

Bus terminal at dusk. Just about to board a 30hour bus. I always find airports and bus terminals interesting, I think mostly because of the combination of teary good byes and joyous welcomes all in the same place.

The heat in Barreirinhas was pretty crazy, sometimes a quick jump in the river is the only way to cool down.

June 26

Capris in front of the theatre in Belem with Hans and Alex.

June 27

These girls are amazing. I had 1 day to get ready for my boat trip from Belem to Manaus. They drove me around all day helping me find a ticket, get supplies and then later took me out to a reggae party. Champions! Can’t thank you all enough! <3

June 28

The boat crew refused to leave port until the Brazil game was over… so we left 4 hours late… but that’s not too bad in Brazil.

June 29

Everyone slept in hammocks on the boat. It made for a very colourful living/sleeping deck. I was reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac at the time and inspired by his poetic language, decided to write a short verse describing one aspect of the trip.

Day and night, gentle drumming pushes us closer,
Rainbows of hammocks, swaying cocoons for prisoners on board,
From them, 100 conversations I can’t understand, noise blending with the drums,
Above it all two sounds, contrasting, transcending language,
Bubbling laughter and cries of attention from the youngest prisoners.

June 30

The Gringo crew onboard before half of them hopped off at Santarem,

July 1

Even on board, in the middle of the Amazon, we had a bit of reception. The guy standing at the back is manning the satelite dish, which you have to adjust every minute or so to keep the picture watchable. In this game USA went down to Germany 2-1.

July 2

The sunrises and sunsets were incredible. A river that looks like an ocean. Gringos and locals looked on in awe every evening. Most nights we were blessed with lighting shows in the distance and perfect star gazing conditions.

July 3

Night 1 in Manaus at Local Hostel with Paul, Liam and Colly

July 4

Hanging with Sam and Kunal. Boat trip prep, Amazon trip prep, Brazil games, the largest Capris I’ve ever seen and a short nap before heading out for the evening. Thanks for the awesome night guys!
